Eye Glass Shopping

Most of you probably don’t know this but I wear glasses for reading and driving. About 2 years ago I was looking into having Lasik eye surgery, if you don’t know what that is, it’s surgery done on your eye via lazer. When I made my appointment with the ophthalmolgist he let me know that if I wanted to go forward with the surgery I needed to stop wearing my contacts. The reasoning behind what he told me is that contacts can alter the shape of your cornea. Your Cornea is what keeps things in focus for you kind of like a camera lens. Fast forward 2 years and I still haven’t gotten the surgery done. It’s still pretty expensive.

Today in the mail I got the reminder card from my optometrist that it’s that time of year again. In the past I haven’t really been to happy with the selection of frames in the office that they have to choose from. In California, I don’t know about other states, you don’t have to purchase contacts or frames & lenses from the prescribing office. It’s getting to the busy shopping time of year and honestly I have been finding better deals online now a days. I googled eye glass frames and came across Warby Parker. They have a good selection of glass frame shapes and sizes to choose from. I was also excited to see that you can choose up to 5 frames and they ship them to you to try out and then you send them back within 5 days, no charge.

Another thing about this brand is that they give back in ways of charitable contributions. If you want to learn more about how, check this video about Warby Parker.

There are other online retailers out there that do similar things but when it comes time to choose my frames I think that I will be giving them a test drive.

Have any of you tried them before?
